Translator's desk with paper drafts

Solutions

Three ways to put a document on our desk.

A per-document engagement, a 12-month subject-specialist retainer, or a focused bilingual review of an existing parallel file.

Working method

Five stages, in order

Whichever engagement you choose, the file moves through the same five stages. Some stages are heavier on a retainer; some are folder-thin on a single document. None are skipped.

  1. 01
Source assessment. Read-through, scope, subject specialism needed, format complexity.
  2. 02
Translator pairing. File assigned to a linguist with subject background and the relevant language pair.
  3. 03
Glossary build. Terminology for the file is captured and, where you have one, aligned to your house glossary.
  4. 04
Two-pass review. A second linguist reads draft against source. Notes return to the lead translator for resolution.
  5. 05
Final formatting. Layout returned to original format. File and signed delivery memo sent.

Solution 03 · Per file review

Bilingual Document Review

A review service for documents originally drafted bilingually, focused on consistency between language versions, terminology alignment, and surfacing of phrases that drift in meaning between versions. Output is an annotated mark-up of both versions with a short summary memo. Useful when a single document is intended to function in parallel languages within an organization.

  • Consistency check between versions
  • Terminology alignment
  • Drift-spotting between versions
  • Annotated mark-up returned
  • Short summary memo
  • 5–7 working days typical turnaround

Picking the right engagement

Compare the three solutions

If you have one file, the standard engagement is for you. If you have a year of files in one subject, the programme. If you have a parallel-language document already drafted and you want a careful read across both versions, the review.
